Here at OLA we are all very excited to see that the snow has lifted and a new season of purple is just on the horizon. We would like to thank everyone that contributed their ideas and feedback to OLA in preparation for our Annual General Meeting as well as the Strategic Planning Session which took place at the end of February at the University of Guelph.
It is a new season for the Association and we are ready to implement some of the key focus ideas that came out of our meeting: To continue our commitment to lavender education and events, to strengthen our public outreach and to continue the path of research and development.

We have also received feedback that readers wished to get to know our lavender farmers better, therefore we are bringing back the “In the Spotlight” feature, this time highlighting a lavender farm east of Toronto.
In addition, for anyone eager to roll up their sleeves and get lavender into the ground this year, there are some great tips, considerations and cautions. OLA is also planning on having a hands-on “Lavender 101” educational session at two locations to accommodate both the west and east of the GTA.
Look out for further communication as we roll into the busy season with farms opening up to the public with various activities as well as announcements on other lavender-focused events.
